Well done Laith, that’s a great achievement and a good recap video. It was so important to hydrate with those high temperatures, something that really caught me out! It’s such a pity that you lost all of your footage with your camera. Such bad luck, however it just means that you’ll definitely have to do it again next year! I’ll be back myself!
Thanks for posting. I endorse everything you said. I also ran the 50km and slightly outdid you with the water intake - around 10litres! I’ve just signed up for the 80km Arc of Attrition as the 40km AoA (1,000m elevation) looked a bit easy - what have I done!! Perhaps see you there!
It's shocking how much water I got through! I can well believe you drank 10Ltrs!! It was warm tho🥵! // Well done for the 80k wow!! I'll be doing the Arc 50K 👍💯... brilliant - see you there!!
Thanks so much for this post and for going into so much detail. So helpful for people preparing to do this! I’m doing the Xterra Snowdonia ultra trail marathon (57k) in July 2024, which I think is the same course. Just one question, did you use poles? Would you recommend it? Like you, I have only done road marathons before and trail races up to 32k. Thanks again for posting such a thorough account of the race and for all your insights! 👍😊🏆
Hi @mtbceri, thank you so much for your comments😊🙏, glad you liked it. I didn't use poles, I think they're kinda 'Marmite', many people rely heavily on them, others think they're an irritation & extra kit to worry about & carry. Ohhh I didn't realise the Xterra was in July, I'd love watch! What dates please? Always happy to support runners 🏃♀️🏃♂️🙏 // Honestly, having just finished Normandy road Marathon, I think (although longer) UTS seemed easier! Very Good Luck with Xterra!🍀🤞
